How Does Acupuncture Work?
Similar to how the Universe is predominantly dark—approximately 96 percent of its composition consists of dark energy (about 69%) and dark matter (about 26%)—the human body is a combination of physical matter and energy. Only around 5% of the Universe, including stars, planets, and ourselves, is made of familiar atomic matter.
While the body is physical, it also has a significant energetic component. Thousands of years ago, ancient Chinese astronomers discovered Qi, an unknown energy in the Universe, now referred to as dark energy in modern astronomy. They made this discovery by observing the movements of the sun, moon, Earth, and stars.
Yin and Yang
These astronomers further concluded that “Existence originates from nonexistence” and “The universe and everything in it has Yin and Yang.” If we consider the ordinary matter as Yang, then dark matter represents Yin. The theory of existence originating from nonexistence aligns well with the Big Bang Theory.
As the human body is part of the Universe, it too has Yin and Yang aspects. When Yin and Yang are in balance, harmony prevails in all things, including the human body. Ancient Chinese scholars also discovered how Qi flows within the body and identified twelve meridians, as well as methods to manipulate the flow of Qi. Normal body function requires the balance of Yin and Yang and proper Qi flow.
Acupuncture maintains Yin and Yang balance and promotes proper Qi flow, enabling the body to function correctly and remain healthy. The underlying principle of acupuncture is to facilitate harmony within the body, ensuring optimal health and well-being.
